Rainier Avenue Church supports two international ministries:
- The Latin America Leadership Team, including the work of Pastor Delia Nuesch-Olver, Pastor Paul Olver, and Pastor Allison Coventry
- Creative Access Project L, founded by a former member of the church
**These ministries are supported out of the church budget, based on the amount that church members have pledged toward each. Church members fulfill their pledges by giving to Rainier Avenue Church, and indicating on either their check or offering envelope that their giving is designated for the Latin America Team or Project L.
Latin America Leadership Team: Free Methodist Church
The goal of Free Methodist World Missions in Latin America is to fuel and sustain an apostolic movement to reach Latin Americans for Christ.
This will happen by:
- Empowering and coaching national leaders to multiply disciples, groups, leaders, and churches
- Catalyzing initiatives and partnerships to plant clusters of churches in strategic cities
- Creating appropriate structures and sustainable systems to encourage and support the exponential growth of the Church

Dr. Delia Nüesch-Olver
Latin America Area Director
Pastor Delia serves as Area Director of the Free Methodist Church in Latin America, overseeing national leaders and missionaries in 13 countries. Born in Argentina to a Swiss missionary family, she brings a unique combination of Latin-American and European cultures. Delia has a track record as a caring pastor and visionary leader. She planted and pastored urban multi-ethnic churches in Rochester and New York City. Before being appointed Area Director she served as Director of Social, Urban, and Ethnic Ministries for the Free Methodist Church USA and for ten years as professor and director of the Global Urban Mission program at Seattle Pacific University. Delia is a reflective practitioner — an ordained minister with a PhD in cultural anthropology. Her passion is to lead the church to be healthy and effective in reaching today’s urban, multicultural world for Christ. Click here to learn more about what Delia does.
Dr. Paul Olver
Latin America Area Consultant
Starting January 2014, Pastor Paul will serve as Coordinator of Pastoral Formation for Free Methodist World Missions in Latin America. Hecomes to that role after 15 years as senior pastor of Rainier Avenue Church, a multi-ethnic urban Free Methodist congregation in Seattle. He also pastored urban, multi-cultural congregations in Chicago and New York City. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest, Paul served as director of Mission Northeast, an agency of nine Free Methodist Conferences to resource church planting, church revitalization, and urban/cross-cultural ministry. In addition to 35 years of ministry experience, Paul has Masters Degrees and a Doctor of Ministry in missions. Paul’s greatest legacy is in multiplying leaders, having coached pastors and church planters and mentored many to be ordained for ministry. Click here to learn more about Paul’s new role.
Dr. Allison Coventry, Pacific Northwest Conference Global Associate
Chief of Staff to the Area Director for Latin America
Pastor Allison Coventry works to fuel and sustain an apostolic movement to reach Latin Americans for Christ as part of the leadership team for the Free Methodist Church in 13 countries. This involves developing synergistic alliances, assisting with leadership development, facilitating strategic planning, coordinating communications, and organizing the work of the Area Director, Dr. Delia Nüesch-Olver. An elder in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist Church, Allison is appointed as a Global Associate. In May 2013 she completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY. Click here to learn more about what Allison does.
