Many RAC people are serving as missionaries around the world. RAC is honored to have them as part of our church family, and provides emotional and spiritual encouragement for them in their ministries through the World Missions Team. Here are some of the missionaries we support:
Dr. Delia Nüesch-Olver began this role in August 2008 after 35 years of ministry experience as a church planter, pastor, and professor of Global Urban Mission. She is an ordained elder and has a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology (Syracuse University). “Doctora Delia,” as she is known in Latin America, is a third culture person, born in Argentina to a Swiss missionary family. She is uniquely suited to identify with both missionaries and national leaders, to be embraced as an insider in Latin America while seeing the overall picture with the eyes of an informed outsider. She has a great passion to develop strategies to reach cities and lead Latin Americans to Christ. As Area Director, Dr. Delia supervises the North American missionaries and the leaders of the 12 Mission Districts and three Provisional Conferences, while coordinating ministry with the Latin American Bishops and Conference Superintendents.
Dr. Paul Olver (Dr. Delia's husband) joined the Latin American team as one-quarter time consultant in January 2010. He continues to serve as lead pastor of Rainier Avenue Church -- a multi-ethnic, urban, mission-focused congregation in Seattle, WA, USA. Paul has 30 years experience in urban, cross-cultural mission in the U.S. and has led over 20 mission trips to various Latin American countries. He has two Masters Degrees and a Doctor of Ministry all in the field of missions. He works in research and writing, leadership development, and advising the Major Cities Initiative.
Pastor Allison provides direction, support, and organization for various area systems and ministry initiatives. These include communication, short term ministry projects (with VISA office), and the ongoing integration of ministry with the Latin America Area vision and strategy. Pastor Allison has a broad range of experience in missions, is a graduate of Northeastern Seminary, speaks fluent Spanish, and has a discerning understanding of cultures. She is an elder in the Pacific Northwest Conference and previously served on the pastoral staff of the Edgewood FMC in Rochester, NY. She is a committed follower of Jesus with a heart for reaching people for Christ and seeing the Church produce sustainable growth.
